DESGUACES GERARDO was founded in 1988 by Gerardo Fernández Suárez, self-employed and the only worker at that time
We are founding partners of AEDRA. The Spanish Automobile Scrapping and Recycling Association was established in March 1995 with the aim of bringing together the industries of the vehicle scrapping sector to represent and defend their common interests. At present, AEDRA has 600 Associated Companies throughout the National Territory. In 1996, due to the demand of the sector as well as the volume of the company and the new regulations, which in those years were already beginning to be implemented in our activity, we became a One-Person Limited Company, giving a great change both in facilities and in work methodology, employing 5 workers.
In this same year we became part of SIGRAUTO. The Spanish Association for the environmental treatment of end-of-life vehicles. This association is a permanent forum, in which manufacturers and importers, scrap yards and car shredders, analyze the problems that affect the treatment of vehicles at the end of their useful life, seeking the most appropriate solutions and trying to provide their associates with the Instruments necessary for them to comply with their new environmental obligations related to said treatment. Hence, it was one of the first scrap yards recommended by Automobile Manufacturers. In 2003 DESGUACES GERARDO, S.L.U became, from a conventional scrapping, to the first C.A.T. (Authorized Center for the Treatment of End of Life Vehicles) of the Principality of Asturias, as well as Manager of Hazardous Waste, once again being pioneers in the sector. Currently and after the construction of its new facilities in 2012 DESGUACES GERARDO, S.L.U. It now employs 15 workers and becomes one of the most modern and representative Vehicle Treatment Centers in the north of the country, buying and selling its products throughout the Provincial, National, European and African territory.
